Global A11Y Standards

Digital accessibility standards ensure that digital products are designed and developed in a way that is accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. Global standards are defined by international organizations such as the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and they provide guidelines for creating accessible digital experiences. Accessibility is fundamental in any design system because it supports social inclusion and improves overall user experience and satisfaction.

Ratings

Legal requirements for digital accessibility vary by country and region. Level-AA Success Criteria is the minimum compliance level in most regions of the worlds, that is the minimum level of compliance of Bricks. We do have accessibility as a core value of our design system so even thought the minimum compliance level is AA, we try to achieve Level-AAA Success criteria wherever is possible. Inclusive design is the key to creating products, services, and environments that work for all people, whatever their hardware, software, language, location, or ability.

Assistive technology

People with disabilities use various tools and techniques to interact with digital products. Some of the common approaches include assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, and grammar and spelling tools. These tools help people with disabilities to access and navigate the through digital products. Bricks is designed to support these different types of approaches. For example, forms, links, and other functionality need to be designed in a way that is accessible to people with disabilities.
